Defintion : The fourth trimester is the 12-week period immediately after you have had your baby.

 

Why is important to know about the 4th trimester?

It start the moment you little one is born and lasts for 12 weeks. During this time it is important to know about the least talked about trimester and the care of the mom. You have had you little one and know everything is new and different . Not only do you have hormones rushing though you body you are also trying to heal and adjust to a new baby and for a lot of moms the feeling of a new you. You have so many question of what is normal and why is this happening or why am I feeling this way . It is absolutely normal to have emotions all over the map. Talk to a close friend, a professional , doctor, etc. nothing is weird or should make you feel that way.

 Please remember not all “baby blues” are equal , having intense mood swings and feeling to cry is normal after having a baby . Due to the lack of sleep, rushing of emotions and crazy hormones. Feeling chronically sad, depressed, overly anxious or having thought of harming yourself or little one can be signs of postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety. This does not make you a bad mom in any way and it is a cure for all of these feelings. Please reach out to you doctor for help.

Remember ever moms journey thought motherhood is different and the need to compare or judge is never helpful to any mother we are all trying are best to raise the next generation the best we know how. So give yourself some grace and know there is no such thing as prefect.

Taking time for yourself is still important to your health and wellness. Seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist is essential for your pelvic floor to strengthen and be strong. You should be able to jump , run , laugh , dance with out a worry in the world about leaking. Do you research not all pelvic floor therapist are equal. Also remember pain is never a good thing, and you should be able to do all things you enjoy with out pain.

Do something that makes you feel excited and alive again, taking time for yourself is not selfish it makes you a better mom and person all around. It is sometimes even the little things that make you feel refreshed again.

 Try and fuel your body with nourish food to help with recovery and balance hormones out. If you are feeling at a lost of were to start please look for a certified registered nutritionist. As getting the right balance of mineral, vitamins, etc. is different for everyone.
